Chivda Mixture (Aval Instant Mixer)


Aval/Poha             -  2 cups
Onions                  -  2 nos
Green chilies          -  2 nos
Cooking oil           -  2 table spoons
Red chili powder   -  1 tea spoon
Sugar                    -  1/2 tea spoon
Mustard seeds      -  1 tea spoon
Black gram dal      -  1 tea spoon
Bengal gram dal    -  1 table spoon
Ground nut           -  1 table spoon
Salt totaste

1.  Heat a kadai, add the poha and stir continuously till the poha becomes pinkish and puffed.
2.  Remove the poha from the kadai.
3.  Add the oil to the kadai, add mustards, black gram dal, bengal gram dal and ground nuts.
4.  As soon as the dals turn golden brown add the finely chopped onions and green chilies.
5.  Also add salt, sugar and red chili powder.
6.  Stir fry till the onions brown in the edges, remove from stove and the fried aval and serve hot.
7.  Its an excellent tea time snack.
